At-Home Pore Vacuums
Dangerous for Skin Barrier
The Viral Claim
"Using electronic suction tools at home literally vacuums the blackheads out of your pores, shrinking them instantly."
Why it exploded on TikTok
The visual satisfaction of seeing sebum physically pulled out of a pore into a plastic nozzle generated incredibly addictive, viral satisfaction loops.
Medical Expert Review
Pore vacuums are one of the most mechanically damaging devices you can use. The extreme, uncalibrated suction applied to delicate facial skin violently bursts capillaries (tiny blood vessels) leading to permanent spider veins on the nose and cheeks that can only be removed via professional lasers. Furthermore, it only rips off the top of the sebaceous filament, traumatizing the pore and causing it to immediately refill with oil and swell larger.
Safe Alternatives
Don't risk destroying your skin barrier. Instead of at-home pore vacuums, utilize these clinically-proven, teen-safe alternatives.
