Dermatology Tool

Routine Conflict Checker

Accidentally mixing the wrong active ingredients can destroy your skin barrier. Select two ingredients below to instantly verify if they are safe to use together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you mix Niacinamide and Vitamin C?

Yes! Old studies from the 1960s using unstable forms of Vitamin C suggested they cancel each other out. Modern dermatology confirms they actually work beautifully together to brighten skin tone without issue.

Can you use Retinol and AHA/BHA together?

No, do not layer them at the same time. Using chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA) followed immediately by Retinoids causes extreme exfoliation, leading to structural barrier damage and intense redness. You should strictly alternate nights.

Can I use Salicylic Acid and Vitamin C together?

It is best to separate them. Vitamin C requires a specific pH level to remain stable and effective. Layering Salicylic Acid (BHA) directly on top can alter this pH. The best practice is using Vitamin C in your morning routine and Salicylic Acid at night.

Can you mix Hyaluronic Acid with Retinol?

Absolutely! Hyaluronic acid is extremely hydrating and does not conflict with active ingredients. It actually acts as a perfect buffer to soothe the dryness and peeling that Retinol often causes. Apply Hyaluronic Acid to damp skin, let it fully dry, then apply your Retinol.
